Shaykh Abdullah Waheed was born and raised in the suburbs of Detroit, MI. He commenced his studies at the age of ten in Toronto, Canada, where he went to memorize the Quran. He completed the memorization of the Holy Quran by the tender age of thirteen and then went on to study in the seven-year extensive Shariah program in Toronto, Canada. Shaykh Abdullah specialized in the Tafseer of the Quran. Shaykh Abdullah spent years studying the details and beauty of our Holy book since understanding and mastering the language of the Holy Quran was always the primary goal. Shaykh Abdullah is a co-founder and instructor at Miftaah Institute and is also the Director of Islamic Affairs at Flint Islamic Center.

Mufti Abdul Rahman Waheed was born and raised in Lansing, MI. As a youth, he displayed zeal and enthusiasm to involve himself in the religious sciences. At just 9 years of age, Mufti Abdul Rahman went to Toronto, Canada to pursue his dreams of becoming a Hafidh of the Holy Qur’an. Thereafter, Mufti Abdul Rahman traveled to Pakistan to continue his passion to seek knowledge where he completed his 2 year Iftaa program which specializes in Islamic Jurisprudence and Law. Mufti Abdul Rahman is serving as a principal and is a full-time instructor at Michigan Islamic Institute, the brother organization of Miftaah Institute. He travels across North America as a khateeb and lecturer. He is well-known for his calm and down-to-Earth demeanor.

Jiab Suleiman, M.S., D.O. is a U.S.-trained, board-certified orthopedic surgeon with over 25 years of experience and a decades-long commitment to humanitarian and medical relief work in Palestine. For many years, he has participated in numerous medical missions to Gaza, providing critical orthopedic care to patients in highly challenging and resource-limited settings.

Dr. Suleiman earned his medical degree from Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine and completed his residency at St. John Oakland Hospital in affiliation with Michigan State University. Alongside his clinical work, he has been published extensively and continues to serve vulnerable communities through ongoing medical relief efforts.

Shaykh Hasan Suleiman is a graduate of an intensive seven-year ʿĀlimiyyah program, having studied at the Michigan Islamic Institute as well as abroad. His studies focused on the traditional Islamic sciences, grounding him in scholarship, service, and community leadership. Alongside his academic pursuits, Shaykh Hasan has been deeply involved in humanitarian and relief work in Palestine for many years. Following in the footsteps of his father, he has participated in numerous medical and relief missions to Gaza, serving communities facing prolonged hardship. He also holds a double major in Supply Chain Management and Information Systems from Wayne State University, bringing a practical, systems-based approach to his work.

Shaykh Abdelmajid Jondy is an educator, academic leader, and mental health professional dedicated to serving youth and underserved communities through education, mentorship, and faith-based development. He is a graduate of the intensive seven-year ʿĀlimiyyah program at the Michigan Islamic Institute, where he completed traditional studies in the Islamic sciences and continues to support the cultivation of future scholars and community leaders. He currently serves as the Academic Director at Michigan Islamic Institute, an all-boys school focused on Hifdh, the ʿĀlimiyyah program, and secular education, where he oversees curriculum development, student growth, and faculty support while mentoring students in both academic and character formation.

Alongside his work in education, Shaykh Abdelmajid is a licensed Physician Assistant specializing in psychiatry. He earned his Master’s degree in Physician Assistant Studies from Western Michigan University and holds dual bachelor’s degrees in Research Psychology and Human Biology from the University of Michigan-Flint. In his clinical practice, he works with individuals and families navigating depression, anxiety, trauma, and other mental health challenges, emphasizing evidence-based care, supportive psychotherapy, and culturally sensitive treatment. Through his work in education, mental health, and community service, he remains committed to nurturing principled, compassionate young people and strengthening communities locally and beyond.
